Argyll Hotel

Isle Of Iona

Relaxology Retreat - 27th-30th March 2020

What is a retreat and why go on one?

A retreat can be a day, a weekend or longer. Often located in a beautiful landscape, with a comfortable place to stay and where all catering is taken care of. There is time to be still, to walk, space to learn something new, opportunity to explore and to meet like minded people. The Isle of Iona is famed for it’s peace and beauty and has been a centre for pilgrimage for hundreds of years and is yours to explore. The Argyll Hotel on Iona is small and cosy and is the perfect place be taken care of!

Life is busy and it is so easy to just keep on going without taking time to relax, reflect or have a break from routine. A retreat can give you this precious time to stop and breathe and to just ‘be’ for a short while. The saying, a change is as good as a rest is so true. To take a mini adventure can be reviving to the mind, body and spirit. What does your heart say?

What does ‘Relaxology’ mean?

A key theme of this retreat is to reflect and focus on what brings us pleasure in life, the things that make us feel joyful and how we can use thsse positive triggars to enhance health and well being. We also learn to do some calming reflexology techniques on each other so that we can share them with our friends and family. Giving and receiving relaxation is such a gift. Plus you will also receive a 30 minute treatment yourself. The main intention from the weekend is to provide a relaxing and spacious time with both guided sessions and freedom to explore.

Would it be ok to come on my own?

Places for this retreat are limited to 8 so it is a small and friendly group. There are cosy single ensuite rooms and lounges to enjoy relaxtion time. In addition, it is fully catered so no need to worry about food. It is also fun to come with a friend, mother or daughter or son because then you can enjoy special time together and be able to swap a relaxing foot treatment when you return home.

Who is the tutor?

Wendy MacManaway is an experienced complementary therapist of 20 years and ran a professional training course for reflexology practitioners before coming to live and work on Iona. She has trained in many strands of personal growth work and her ethos is one of self responsibility and empowerment, deeply respectful of the individual process and how to optimise personal potential!

What will I need to bring and getting there?

Visiting Iona at any time of the year the weather is changeable and layers are highly recommended, a full waterproof layer and waterproof shoes. A notebook and pen and a good book. Mainly just yourself to enjoy a special break. The travel to and from Iona is like a mini pilgrimmage and is best considered as part of the break away. The scenery on the bus or train through the highlands is stunning and best enjoyed with a picnic.  Detailed travel arrangements will be supplied on booking your place.
