We are a small owner operated hotel nestled in the village street overlooking the Sound of Iona.
We aim to provide a home away from home with all the comforts of great food and attentive service.
What you need to bear in mind when planning a visit to stay on Iona is that you are undertaking a modern day pilgrimage and the only way back to Oban is across Mull!
Here are the links that you need to make.
Glasgow to Oban - Bus and train about - 3 hours
Ferry Oban to Craignure, Mull - 45 minutes
Bus/ Drive across Mull - allow an hour and quarter
Ferry Fionnphort to Iona - 15minutes
We suggest you choose your day of arrival and work backwards. The ferry from Oban that leaves 'around' 4pm is the last ferry that connects at Craignure on Mull with a bus to Fionnphort. The last ferry to Iona waits for this bus and leaves around 6.15pm.
When connecting from Glasgow, bear in mind that the noon train (check timetables) that departs from Glasgow Queen Street is your last connection to Oban that gets you to Iona on the same day.
If you are only coming for a short stay we recommend arriving in Oban and staying the night to enable you to get to Iona the next morning and be able to enjoy the most of the day on Iona. It is such a long way to come for a few hours and there is so much to see!
Public Transport
Trains, buses and ferries are well connected but there are a limited number of connections and it varies depending on the day of travel, especially in the Winter (October- March). Even in summer, travel on a Sunday is very limited. So please check all your connection times. The last ferry from from Oban to arrive on the same day to Iona is the 3.55pm ferry. Please allow 7 hours from Glasgow.

Private Transport:
Due to the popularity of the Oban to Craignure ferry route, booking your ferry as soon as you have booked your accommodation is highly advised.
